Stein's Garden & Home

Bought over $300 worth of plants in May; I had 2 plants struggling. I called Steins last week, asked about a refund or exchange. I was told certainly, bring the plant and proof of purchase. I pulled the plants, went in today. I did not have an itemized receipt only proof of purchase on my VISA statement. I was then told that if I was not a "garden club member" there was no guarantee. I wasn't offered membership at my purchase, it was never explained and honestly why would I? I am visiting from South Carolina and helping my daughter with her garden. I'm 63, have purchased many plants, planted many gardens. I've never had a reason to return a plant. But at $35 a pop and struggling to grow I figured why not. Steins was NO help. No guarantee, nothing. Went to Lowe's because of course now I have two holes to fill. My purchase is guaranteed for a year!!! Steins your customer service leaves little to be desired and my local family will shop plants elsewhere!!

They have nice plants and nice employees, but it's impossible to reach this store via the phone. The call goes through, is picked up and immediately is hung up. If someone does actually answers and you are unfortunate enough to get put on hold, the call is almost always disconnected. When I've asked about it, they say it's there phone system. These things happen, I get it, but this "problem" with their phone system should be going on for 2 or 3 years.

I bought an apple tree a few days ago and it's showing signs of fungal diseases. When I went to return it the the person, Ann, was very insulting and telling me that she could re-sell the tree very quickly and that's simple to fix. Instead of saying how you can cure the diseases, you should just sell trees without them in the first place. When I went to look for a new one of the same variety it turns out that they all had the same issues. So if you buy a plant here, be aware that you may be buying something that's already been returned because it's unhealthy. Shows very poor business ethic and I will not be returning.

My friend bought a 10 by 10 gazebo while visiting the Ashwaubenon location. They found the one on Wisconsin Ave had it for the delivery option. It was delivered as expected. July 20th 2019 she was able to have it fully assembled. She was able to sit in it for about 5 minutes before a freak storm blew over. It was found that the little stakes that came with it were not enough to hold in it place & if they were, it would not have blown into the neighbors yard. She has contacted the company who constructed the product was only willing to replace one panel. 80% of this item was totaled. She did write Stein's via email only to find they too will not back their product at all. Their has yet to be a response to her inquiries. She did got into the store for assistance and was greeted with a big F. U. "but not literally of course." She is an elderly woman who can not deal with this kind of stress. She wound up with a perforated ulcer & was unable to respond to this issue in a timely fashion. That time between this happening & her being able to reach out for help was a factor. Now she sits with a pile of useless twisted metal & a mosquito mesh she has no use for at all. She has been a long t

Very good garden center. They have most everything you need and want. The selection of flowers and trees, bushes, etc. is tremendous. Indoors they feature bird feeding supplies, grills, fountains, lights, fertilizers, succulents and other craft items. During the holidays they offer a wide variety of Christmas trees, poinsettias, boughs and garland.
